Award-winning authors visit ISH

On March 9th, a special guest visited the grade 7 & 8 students in our library: Award winning children’s author Monika Schröder gave some insights about being an author. While presenting her most recent books, she shared details about the hard work and discipline necessary for writers to become better at their craft.

The following week, on March 16th, grade 4 to 6 students received a similar visit: Mr Alan Gibbons, winner of the Blue Peter Book Award combined his vivid presentation with history: through the description of Mr. Gibbons’ childhood, the students learnt about several personalities from the 50s to today who have inspired him.

The students really enjoyed the lively presentations by both authors, which gave them a better appreciation for, and understanding of, the writing craft.
