Thanks to the hard work, great enthusiasm and generosity of the ISH Community, the PTA and the Secondary School project “Kids Helping Kids” were able to donate €3.200 to both Altonaer Kinderkrankenhaus and Die Arche.
During the last Secondary School Assembly of 2014 students presented the first cheque to Dr. Süssenguth from the Altonaer Kinderkrankenhaus and also handed over lovely packed Christmas-in-the-Shoebox presents for the children at the hospital.
After drawing the winners of the “Kids Helping Kids” raffle, Dr. Süssenguth thanked the ISH community for the donation, which will be used to purchase two computerized “pain pumps”. They allow patients to give themselves a dose of pain killer medication without having to wait for a nurse or doctor. This way the time after a surgery or during a serious illness will be a bit more bearable for the little patients.
The second cheque - along with many private donations, lots of presents and the end-of-year contents of ISH’s Lost & Found - was presented to Mr. Tobias Lucht during a visit to Die Arche on 17th December 2014.
Die Arche (The Ark) provides a warm lunch to underprivileged children in the Hamburg Jenfeld area as well as afternoon activities like homework supervision, music lessons, articafts and sport activities, thus giving these children a safe place and an educational environment to be in the afternoon. Where necessary, children and youngsters also receive single tutoring lessons. ISH’s donation will pay for the lessons for 10 students over a period of 4 months. This will give them a chance to improve in school and do a good exam.
