On Sept 21, hundreds of future College students flocked to Hemmingstedter Weg for the seventh iteration of the International College Day.
For the third time in a row, CollegeCouncil and ISH worked together and organized Germany’s largest independent fair for English-speaking studies abroad. Now in its seventh year, College Day is held in various cities across Germany. On Wednesday, September 21, the fair visited ISH.
The College Day offers useful brochures, application forms, a chance to compare offers and – first and foremost – the opportunity to clarify important questions in person. Ten renowned exhibitors from the U.S. (e.g. Stanford), Canada (University of British Columbia), Great Britain, France, The Netherlands, Spain, Italy, Switzerland and Austria presented themselves to hundreds of interested students and parents from Hamburg and the wider region. Students were able to gain a sense of what kind of college environment might be a good match for them in the future.
Hosting the College Day provides obvious benefits for ISH students, who are systematically informed and advised about their school and university careers as of grade 9 by College Counselor Birgit Preu.
Says ISH’s Acting Head of School, Andrew Cross: “As a school, we recognise that the decision about what to do after high school is among the most important that a student and his or her parents will take. The College Day is an essential tool, among many others, in ensuring a positive outcome to this process. Sincere thanks to our College Counselor, Ms. Birgit Preu, for her efforts and dedication once again this year in offering our students this opportunity. We wish all of our future graduates much success in life beyond ISH!”
